A study by researchers from Thailand, Taiwan, and Austria has found that holy basil (Ocimum sanctum) contains compounds that help maintain youthful skin. This finding, which was published in the journal Industrial Crops and Products, was based on the potent anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities exhibited by extracts from the herb.
From these results, the researchers concluded that holy basil can be used as a natural skin care product. This is because of its potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties, which can be attributed to rosmarinic acid.
